Letter to W.G. Chapman and three detective stories, 1917 April 5.

Letter to literary agent enclosing samples of one-page alliterative humorous detective stories called "Deteclets". (The letter mentiions two stories but there are three.) These stories are "on the same lines as those written for the Keeley-Handy Syndicate, except that I have added the alliterative feature." Titles of the three deteclets "By Alliterative Al" include "Based on Baldness," "The Thrilling Thread," and "The Tinted Trail." The hero is "Diminutive Deductive Detective Dee, tense, tiny and attentive" who is also "dapper and dependable" and "discreet and discerning."
